Main Program: Fixation: How to Have Stuff without Breaking the Planet with author Sandra Goldmark, Professor at Barnard College

This program is CEU eligible

As productivity and/or organizing professionals, we are well versed in the language of “stuff,” and the emotional (and sometimes physical) weight it carries. Sandra Goldmark’s book, Fixation: How to Have Stuff without Breaking the Planet, argues that we do not need to feel shame about our stuff, nor do we need to adopt any fad “stuff diets.” We need a simple way forward that works for individuals, for the economy, and for the planet.

You will leave with:

  • A deeper contextualization of “stuff,” from theories on human-thing entanglement to the real impact of consumption on climate change
  • A clear path forward (and a practical guide) to share with clients
  • A diverse range of companies, policies, and start-ups that are leading the way to a new model

Business Partner Spotlights:

Jennifer Pitman, Doyle
